Hey guys!
Just thought I should update you with everything that has been going on. I have finally received all the detailed information regarding the program. It looks like I will be working in Regional Atlantida Hospital in La Ceiba, Honduras after my first month of training in Costa Rica. The city is quickly becoming one of the biggest tourist sites for Honduras and there are islands (Bay Islands) right near the city which are popular for scuba diving and snorkeling. There are around 26 participants and my partner in Honduras is from Imperial College in the UK (his name is Julien). Today, I also received a large box of medical equipment and tools. I am now the proud owner of a multimeter, a 20 lb centrifuge, 2 soldering irons, and a toolbox full of goodies. I'm looking forward to packing all of it and making it through customs without being questioned (and hopefully it won't be overweight!).The box came with our shirts that we are supposed to wear on the program and our textbooks. It turns out that the shirts are pink so I will definately be stylish while I'm there. I went to Border's too and picked up a giant book of spanish verbs and a spanish medical terminology book just in case I'm a little rusty on my spanish.
The entire group is meeting in Washington DC and flying out together. My parents and I have decided to take this opportunity to visit the capital since I have never gotten the chance to before. I also booked my return flight from Washington DC to Detroit so I know I have a way home.
It still has not hit me that I'm leaving in two weeks! I'm guessing it won't really sink in until I start packing or I'm on the plane there. Until then, I'll be refreshing my spanish and enjoying the summer for a bit! Please feel free to post comments with questions or anything you want to know about :-)
